ABOUT GIFTS OF PRAISE

Gifts of Praise, a Lutheran-based Contemporary Worship and Praise Band, was formed in 1990 and began with two guitars and a vocalist. From inception, the Mission of Gifts of Praise has been, and continues to be, to lift up the word of the Lord through music to thank and praise Him for the blessings and gifts that He has provided.

With this mission in mind, and, as the group began to branch out with musical selections and worship services, more members were added. Gifts of Praise began to play more frequently during Sunday Worship Services as well as provide the music for the Annual Congregational Youth Retreat. The group now consists of eight full time members and includes vocals, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, and keyboards.

Gifts of Praise has played for many different functions, including the annual Lutheran Youth Retreat held at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference on Long Beach Island, NJ, funeral home memorial services, various youth kickoff events as well as “Praize and Pizza” services sponsored by the Delaware Conference, and at annual Thrivent Lutheran Charity events.

Gifts of Praise sings and plays many traditional hymns as well as a wide variety of contemporary Christian music. The group also leads worship services using alternative settings from the Lutheran Book of Worship, The Hymn Supplement and With One Voice. Contemporary Christian influences include Michael W. Smith, Third Day, Casting Crowns, Audio Adrenaline, Gateway Worship, Dakota Road, Paul Baloche and many others.
